Swatches - Kat Von D Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set (Holiday 2016)

I know this set has been out a while already, but I knew that Sephora would eventually do their BI/VIB/Rouge Loyalty Reward, so I ended up getting this for $25 off, which is pretty sweet :)

I've been a big fan of KVD's liquid lipsticks for a while, and I especially love picking up the mini sizes because it allows me to try a range of colors without committing to a full-sized tube (and the full-sized price). This particular set is a great sampler set of the color range, and also includes two brand-new exclusive shades. (I have no idea if they will eventually be permanent or not.)

In general, these lipsticks are highly pigmented, long-lasting (but not uncomfortable to remove, unless you're trying on eight at a time like I did), and are more of a "soft matte" than a total cracked-scorched-earth dry matte. I know I've said before that ColourPop's Ultra Matte Lips are my favorite for the price, but if price were no issue, I would totally go with KVD.

Some swatches for you:

From L to R: Plath (new shade), Santa Sangre, Mother, Lovesick, Backstage Bambi, L.U.V., Roxy (new shade), and Echo

(By the way, I apologize that I'm not more glammed up in the follow pics - the temperature outside is in the 30s, and not much warmer inside.)

Plath is a "deep russet red." I love it. It's right in my wheelhouse. PERFECT for fall.

Santa Sangre is described as "poison apple." Which, I'm like, Is that a color? It's a very bright, glamorous-looking poison apple. This is most definitely a confidence-boosting color.

Mother is "dusty mauve pink," and the one color from this set that I already had - full-sized, no less! I like this one as my spring pink-neutral.

Lovesick is a "mauve nude," paler than I would ever choose for myself. I think with the right eye look it could work, but really, I think it washes me out some.

Backstage Bambi is a "vivid hot pink," even brighter than it looks in this picture. Perfect for when you're feeling fun!

OH MY GOD, I love this color. L.U.V. is a "rich violet" and is that perfect shade of pinky-purple, where it's purple enough that people can see you're a purple-lipstick-wearer, but conventional enough not to get you weird glances. I might possibly have five other similar purples in my collection, because it's such a wonderful lip color.

So, Roxy IS the sort of purple that might get you a weird look (from people who DON'T KNOW HOW TO HAVE FUN), but it's so gorgeous that you won't care, and you will rock this shade to hell if you have to. It's described as "bright grape." I could not get it to be opaque, so that's a slight bummer, but it got very close.

Echo is a "satin navy blue," and while objectively I like how it looks on me, I don't know if I'd have the guts to wear this out. (Though I'd rather choose Echo than Lovesick.) This one also gave me a hard time in terms of opacity.

So yeah, if you've never really given KVD's Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks a try, and you would like to see what this line is all about (especially with the "weird" colors), I HIGHLY recommend picking up this set. If you end up with any Sephora giftcards for the holidays, all the better!
