This is probably the smallest Ulta purchase I have ever made, and that was because my store was clean OUT of stuff that I really wanted to buy, so this is what I got:
First is Makeup Revolution's Vivid Baked Highlighter in Peach Lights:
I didn't actually realize until I got home that it's a baked highlighter, so when I couldn't swatch it easily with my finger, I got super confused and disappointed. And then, of course, I read the label :) I fared much better using a brush. It's not a powerfully strong highlight, but I'm not trying to signal airplanes with my cheekbones or anything, so it's good enough.
I also really wanted this new shade of Soft Matte Lip Cream from NYX called "Moscow":
Moscow is a navy blue, and I was disappointed in how sheer it was, but at the same time, it's not like it isn't wearable as a sheer blue. I just generally assume that these Soft Matte Lip Creams are supposed to be more pigmented - am I wrong?
In addition to my tiny Ulta haul, I also had a slightly haul ($$-wise) from Sephora, but of tiny things! Starting off with these BeautyBlender Microminis:
|Dampened one on the left, dry one on the right|
|Dampened one on the left, dry regular BB on the right|
I also got the Tarte Glam Goodies set:
This consists of the Tartelette Tease palette, a mini Tarteist Lash Paint, and a mini Tarteist Lip Paint in the shade TBT. Considering how the palette alone costs $21, I thought $25 was a good deal, and I've been wanting to try the Lip Paints, but wasn't really eager to buy a full-sized one.
Both the mascara and the Lip Paint reminded me of other things - the mascara (and its wand) were similar to BeneFit's They're Real mascara, I felt, while this particular shade of Lip Paint (as well as its texture) reminded me of KVD's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita - it looked more mauve in the tube, but on me it was rather warm and brown.
Here are some photos and swatches of the palette:
It's kind of the perfect "purse palette," since it is small but contains a nice variety of colors and finishes. The top row is brown neutrals, and the bottom row is plum neutrals, and they are all nicely pigmented and easy to blend. I haven't bought Tarte eyeshadows in ages because I've never been super impressed by them, but I'm impressed now.
And here is a FOTD with all three items from the set:
Aside from the NYX lip cream, I'm loving everything I got!
